“Temporality” explores the intricate relationship between art and time and how artists from different eras engage with time as the fourth dimension. From the enduring presence of concrete structures to the ephemeral beauty of light installations, the exhibition delves deep into the essence of time, exploring its persistence, duration, and profound impact on human existence.

In “Temporality”, Alex Katz’s painting features a woman in a simple straw hat. Despite their ancient origins, straw hats remain popular for their low maintenance and practicality. Symbolizing timelessness, they transcend age and fashion trends, making them a universally democratic fashion item. On the other hand, through the interplay of artificial light and color, Stephen Antonakos’ works evoke the transience of time, mimicking sunlight and the colours of the sky from dusk to dawn. Similarly, Takis’ kinetic works serve as dynamic timekeepers between moments of stillness and movement, echoing the cycle of the day. Chryssa deals with similar themes, approaching the distress of the material as traces of the passage of time, while the works of Mark Hadjipateras and Tasos Pavlopoulos are constructed from free associations between nature and culture, past, present and fantasy.

Younger emerging artists, such as Salome Economides and Anestis loannou, use fashion and youth culture symbols in order to comment on contemporary ephemeral experiences. By combining contemporary ephemeral experiences. By combining skateboard wheels with marble fragments – a material inherent to the history of Athens – loannou bridges past histories with present experiences. At the same time, Lida Sermpi and lacopo Capone-Doumas blend fluidity and stillness with works that seem stuck in time. Bringing established and emerging artists together, this exhibition serves as an introduction to the work of TAAT. With a deep aesthetic and artistic sensibility, TAAT aims to continue showcasing works that speak of contemporary experiences as well as timeless overarching themes.
